Seems that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is aware that the famed Capitol Theatre in Port Chester is about to get its second act as a rock ‘n roll venue. The Stones played the Capitol in 1997 as part of their “Bridges to Babylon” tour for an MTV special. There’s been much speculation about who the headliner will be when the renovated theatre debuts Sept. 4 — including that it might be the Stones.
Tuesday night, Richards, who has a home in Weston, Conn., was dining at one of his favorite local eateries, Luc’s Café in nearby Ridgefield (Richards is related to restaurateur Herve Aussavis’ wife) with his wife, Patti Hansen, older daughter, Theodora and several friends. When asked by LoHud Lowdown about the Capitol’s reopening, Richards said, “I read about that.” When asked if his band might play there, Richards, wearing a heavy black leather jacket and his signature skull ring, laughed and said, “Maybe I should put that on my list.” Maybe he should.
For those who missed them 15 years ago, here’s the set list from the Stones’ Oct. 25, 1997 show at the Capitol, according to setlist.fm.
