A television show is being filmed in Nyack today—and according to multiple sources, it’s a pilot for the forthcoming ABC Family drama Socio, starring Denise Richards.
According to an ABC Family press release, Socio is a one-hour drama centered on a charismatic 16-year-old alleged sociopath who recently reconnected with his two female best friends from childhood, then becomes the prime suspect when a fellow student is murdered.
The village of Nyack’s website announced Wednesday that there will be no parking on Main Street between Cedar Street and Broadway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to the filming. And pedestrian traffic will be stopped intermittently throughout the day.
The shoot, which began yesterday, is getting mixed reaction from Nyack’s tweeting residents.
“They’ve been filming madd stuff in Nyack lately an now they took over my whole block…:(,” one unhappy resident wrote on Twitter.
“Working on Nyack = not being allowed to walk on Main Street because their filming a movie. #cool ,” tweeted one seemingly excited woman who works in Nyack.
But one fan was more excited to spot one the show’s stars, Victorious actor Avan Tudor Jogia. “They are filming a show in Nyack and that guy from Victorious is HOTT!,” she wrote.
Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Denise Richards might be in luck today. “Off to bed start shootin #socio tomorrow!,” she announced to her Twitter followers Wednesday night.
