What’s not to love about the Golden Globe Awards?
Not only is Sunday’s ceremony the unofficial kickoff of awards season in all its glitzy glory, but the Globes is the only one that honors both movies and TV. (I mean, where else are you going to see Angelina Jolie hobnobbing with Schmidt from New Girl?)
Large quantities of alcohol are served, too, so the potential for celebrity hijinks and drunken acceptance speeches are always wonderfully high. (Yes, Meryl Streep, we’re talking to you.)
Plus, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association doesn’t bother recognizing pesky little categories like cinematography, so this is a swift-running show that only features stars, stars, and more STARS! (They’re better targets for our snarky observations, even if they are Just Like Us.)
That leads us to our announcement, of course, that we’ll be live blogging the whole shebang at LoHud Lowdown! Entertainment reporter Heather Salerno will begin at 6 p.m. by watching E! for some red carpet reviews, before shifting over to comment on NBC’s 7 p.m. arrivals special, and then the live ceremony itself, starting at 8 p.m.
So will funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler prove to be the best Globes hosts EVER? We’re guessing that anyone skewered by previous three-time host Ricky Gervais already agree, but we hope the Dynamic Duo won’t be too nice…
