Try not to hyperventilate, “Game of Thrones” fans. Westeros is coming to New York City.
Just in time for the season 3 premiere on March 31, HBO is sponsoring a traveling exhibition of costumes, props and artifacts from the award-winning fantasy series, based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling books.
Featuring more than 70 items from the show’s first two seasons, including select pieces from the upcoming episodes, the exhibit will be in Manhattan from Mar. 28 through April 3. It’s a limited, international run: The only other stops are in Toronto, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam and Belfast.
So what will you see there?
Try an exact replica of the iron throne itself – and you’ll be allowed to take your photo sitting on it!
Also highlighted will be a range of the breathtaking, medieval-style costumes from the show, overseen by costume designer Michele Clapton. You’ll also get a look at royal crowns, jewelry, model dragons, helmets, shields, armor and weapons, including King Joffrey’s crossbow and his two swords, “Ice” and “Longclaw.”
Oh, and did we mention it’ll be FREE?!?
Additional details on time and location haven’t been announced yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, who’s marking your calendars right now? We sure are.
