The journey is over for Melinda Ademi on “American Idol.”
The Yonkers resident, who made it through to the “American Idol” top 40 this season, was cut from the competition on Wednesday night’s episode.
Melinda, who once wowed the judges with her performance of “Price Tag” by Jessie J, disappointed the panel when she performed “Nobody’s Favorite,” also by Jessie J, in Las Vegas.
“I felt that nerves were trying to get on top of you,” judge Keith Urban said.
Randy Jackson said she didn’t have” enough moments” during the song.
And though Mariah Carey had praise for Melinda—“I know what you can do,” the pop diva said—and Nicki Minaj reminded Melinda that she loves her, it was still the end of the road for the Yonkers singer, who made it to the “Idol” semifinals once before.
“Please know that you’re talented and that you’re a stellar, talented girl,” Mariah said before delivering the crushing news.
Melinda seemed to take the elimination well. She is also getting plenty of support on Twitter, including a message from Yonkers mayor Mike Spano.
“Yonkers is proud of you! #PrideInYonkers,” Spano tweeted.
