A heartbroken Lea Michele has broken her silence since the shocking death of Cory Monteith, her boyfriend and “Glee” co-star.
Her reps issued a statement to People magazine that said:
Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.
They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.
The former Rockland Country Day School student had dated Monteith for more than a year, and she publicly supported him when he sought treatment earlier this year for substance abuse. The actor, who was 31, died over the weekend in a Vancouver hotel in what the British Columbia coroner confirmed was an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
Us Weekly is also reporting that Michele “didn’t know” that Monteith had relapsed after exiting rehab. It’s also likely that the season premiere of “Glee,” originally scheduled for Sept. 19, will likely be postponed until later in the fall.
