Billboard magazine is celebrating the chart’s 55th Anniversary by counting down the “100 biggest Hot 100 hits ever” — and songs by three LoHud stars made their hot list!
“I’ll be Missing You” by Mount Vernon-raised rapper P. Diddy landed at number 94. The song, a touching tribute to Diddy’s friend the Notorious B.I.G., stayed at No. 1 for 11 weeks in 1997.
“Family Affair,” by Yonkers’ own Mary J. Blige, is number 89 on the list. The song, which introduced us to words like hatoration and holleration, topped the charts for six weeks in 2001.
“Smooth,” Bedford resident Rob Thomas’s hit collaboration with music legend Santana, is number two on the list. The song kept the number one spot for 12 weeks in 2001.
