Ellen Burstyn has a lot to celebrate lately.
The Nyack resident, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie last month, will be inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame, reserved for Broadway’s best.
Also on the list of 2013 inductees: late ‘Raisin in the Sun” playwright Lorraine Hansberry. performer Cherry Jones, producer Cameron Mackintosh, designer David Hay and directors George C. Wolfe, Jerry Zaks and Lynne Meadow.
Burstyn’s Broadway resume includes Same Time, Next Year, Shimada, Shirley Valentine, Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, Sacrilege and Picnic. Her performance in Same Time, Next Year earned the lead actress Tony Award in 1975.
The Theater Hall of Fame 2013 Gala and Induction dinner will be held on January 27, 2014 at the Gershwin Theater.
