Rockland just lost some star power. Rosie O’Donnell is saying goodbye to Nyack.
The comedian, who raised her five children in Nyack, tells us she is moving to Bergen County, NJ this month.
“I am going to miss Nyack. I lived here for almost two decades and it really feels like home,” she said.
So, why did Rosie and her wife Michelle Rounds decide to move?
“My son has some learning stuff and there’s a great school (in the town we are moving to). We needed to be in that school district,” she said. “And also to be closer to where my ex lives, in order to make it easier for the kids”
Saying goodbye won’t be easy for the star.
“I’m going to miss Casa Del Sol and the OVI (Olde Village Inn) and all my local hangouts,” she said. “I loved the fact that it’s a multicultural community and there are a lot of gay people. And it’s kind of like an artistic, hippy Breckenridge, Colorado ski resort on the East Coast. And there’s the beauty of the Hudson. I’m going to miss it a lot, truthfully. I love Nyack.”
Locals can say goodbye to O’Donnell when she performs five shows at Levity Live in the Palisades Mall in West Nyack Friday to Sunday. Read our interview with Rosie about her upcoming shows and much more in The Journal News and at LoHud.com on Tuesday.
