When we chatted with comedian Rosie O’Donnell about her recent weight loss after suffering a heart attack in 2012, the former Nyack resident mentioned that she dropped the pounds by changing her diet and lifestyle.
But Rosie left out one detail that she might not have been comfortable sharing at the time of our interview. During a speech at the American Heart Association’s Go Red luncheon on Friday, the slimmed-down star revealed that she also underwent vertical gastric sleeve surgery.
“She tried to lose weight on her own but it wasn’t working,” her spokesperson Cindi Berger told People.com.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter how the mother of five lost more than 30 pounds to improve her health.
“Getting your weight under control is of paramount importance,” she told us in December. “Any way you can work with a doctor and figure out what’s best for you with your family history is what you should do because it does affect every single thing in your body.”
