Meredith Vieira says she will bring a studio audience home to Irvington everyday to film her new talk show…well, sort of.
“We designed the set to look exactly like my family room,” the former ‘Today Show’ host said in an interview with the TV show Extra. “It’s bringing in some of my furniture, which has been destroyed by the animals, so people are going to look at it and go, ‘God, our place is so much better than Vieira’s!’ You’re going to feel that your spending an hour in my home with me.”
The chair Meredith will sit in to interview guests on ‘The Meredith Vieira Show’ is one of her favorites from her Westchester home. “It’s a little like me,” she said, while appearing at the TCA Summer TV Press Tour last week. “It’s a little worn-in, but it’s been loved.”
Meredith also wanted tobring her dog Jasper to her 30 Rock set everyday to keep the home theme going. “But he almost bit a photographer’s testicles the other day and I don’t want a lawsuit,” she told reporters.
Jasper’s out, but Meredith’s good human friends will be a part of the show. The band leader is E Street Band musician Everett Bradley and the announcer is media spokesperson Jon Harris. The talk show host says both men are like brothers to her.
‘The Meredith Vieira Show’ premieres Sept. 8 on NBC.
