Jessica Springsteen (daughter of Bruce) and Georgina Bloomberg (daughter of Michael) are among the competitors participating in the American Gold Cup, a prestigious international horse jumping competition hosted at the historic Old Salem Farm in North Salem. The event kicked off on Wednesday and runs through Sept. 14.
Springsteen, 22, and Bloomberg, 31, are in the top ranks of competitive horse jumping. Both celebrity daughters have been CSI competition champions and members of the Nations Cup Team.
Bloomberg, who has a farm in North Salem, is a lifelong equestrian who vows to keep riding, injuries and all. “I’ve had enough bad falls that obviously it’s always in your head, but for me it’s worth it,” she said in an interview with The Journal News. “The day it stops being worth it is when I’ll stop riding.”
Other competitors at the American Gold Cup 2014 include American Gold Cup 2013 winner Brianne Goutal, Olympic gold medalist Laura Kraut and Pan American Games gold medalist Christine McCrae.
