Joan Rivers’ personal doctor took a selfie while the comedian was under anesthesia in a procedure room at Manhattan’s Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, a CNN source claims.
As previously reported, the same doctor allegedly performed an unplanned biopsy on Rivers’ vocal chords after the comedian’s routine endoscopy with gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen on Aug. 29. It is unclear when he snapped the photo of himself.
The source claims Rivers, a former Larchmont resident, went into cardiac arrest during the unauthorized biopsy. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she died one week later on Sept. 4.
Rivers’ physician, who is an ear, nose and throat specialist, has not been identified publicly. The clinic denies that a biopsy was performed.
