Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers will be one of the select movie theaters across the country screening the new documentary ‘David Bowie Is’ on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
‘David Bowie Is’ takes a look at the acclaimed exhibition of the same name. It explores the musician’s artistic life with a collection of more than 400 items, including photographs, handwritten lyrics and original costumes. Created by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the exhibit has already made its way to Toronto, Sao Paulo and Berlin. It will make its debut at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art on the same day the documentary is screened nationwide.
Curators Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh appear in the film with guests including Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto and Pulp front-man Jarvis Cocker, each telling the stories behind some of the exhibit’s most fascinating items.
The screening begins at 9 p.m at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, located at 2548 Central Park Ave. Tickets are $12. Find out more at the theater’s website.
