Ellen Page and Julianne Moore were photographed in White Plains last week, filming scenes for their forthcoming drama ‘Freeheld.’ This week, the cast and crew are in Rye Brook, where they are expected to shoot on Brook Lane throughout the day Wednesday.
Based on true events, “Freeheld” stars Moore as terminally-ill New Jersey police detective Laurel Hester, who fought the Ocean County Board of Freeholders for the right to pass on her pension benefits to her domestic partner Stacie Andree (played by Page). Steve Carell will costar as Garden State Equality advocate Steven Goldstein.
“Freeheld” is based on the 2007 documentary of the same name, which was directed by Mount Kisco-born, Crugers-raised filmmaker Cynthia Wade. It won the Academy Award for best short documentary in 2008.
