Producer/writer David Simon will visit the Yonkers Riverfront Library on Monday to talk about his upcoming HBO project “Show Me A Hero,” which explores the housing desegregation battle that divided Yonkers in late ’80s and early ’90s. The six-part miniseries, starring Oscar Isaac, Jim Belushi and Wynona Ryder, has been shooting on location in Yonkers since last month. “There is much interest in the City of Yonkers in how this chapter in our city’s history will be told to a national and international audience on HBO,” Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano said. “This event will offer the pubic an opportunity to hear directly from the producer on what first drew his attention to this story and the relevancy he feels it still has today.”
Simon’s appearance is part of the YONY Creative Meetup Series, monthly networking events for creative professionals and leaders. The talk, also presented by The City of Yonkers and Sarah Lawrence College, will be be moderated by news anchor Tara Rosenbaum.
