Something funny’s going on at Mount Vernon’s City Hall. Funnyman J.B. Smoove will be in the building on Thursday to receive a hometown honor.
The Mount Vernon-raised comic and actor will accept the keys to the city from Mayor Ernest D. Davis at 12:30 p.m., an overdue honor for the ‘Top 5’ star.
“At the last Arts on Third Festival, we wanted to recognize him but he was busy filming,” Davis said. “Now that he’s in town, we’re happy to present the key to this hometown guy right in City Hall.”
Smoove returned to the area on Wednesday to perform at the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon’s annual gala dinner, which was held at The Surf Club in New Rochelle.
“I receive to then give it back,” he tweeted before the event. “Headed to my #BoysandGirlsClub Gala. Proud alum. Gonna be fun!!! #mountvernon NY.”
The ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ star will also perform at the Garden of Laughs benefit at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
