‘Girls’ is taking a break from the city.
The Brooklyn-set HBO series, created by and starring Lena Dunham, will shoot scenes at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River on Wednesday. The cast and crew’s exact location inside the park was not disclosed.
Inspired by Dunham’s real life experiences, ‘Girls’ follows lead character Hannah Horvath and her circle of close friends. The comedy-drama’s fifth season started shooting in Manhattan this month.
Variety reports that the show’s storylines will take a dark turn in season 5. “I know we have our darker season and lighter seasons,” Dunham said. “[Season 5] definitely has some darkness. I just wrote an episode in a fever dream. I had a moment where I was like, ‘Did I accidentally write a remake of ‘Traffic’? What just happened?’”
