Josh and Anna Duggar have a message for Irvington resident Meredith Vieira: You have a namesake.
The controversial reality stars have named their newborn daughter Meredith after the Emmy-winning talk show host. The decision goes back to the time Vieira interviewed the couple in 2009, long before it was revealed that Josh had sexually molested some of his younger sisters when he was a teenager — a shocking revelation that led to the cancellation of the his family’s reality show ’19 Kids and Counting.’
“One month before (their first child) Mackynzie was born, Meredith Vieira from NBC’s TODAY Show jokingly requested that Josh and Anna name their first child after her,” the Duggars explained in a post on their official blog. “‘Obviously I would love that,’ said Vieira. ‘It would make me a very happy person.’ At that point, Josh and Anna had already settled on Mackynzie, but Josh told Vieira that they may consider her name for future daughters…Congratulations, Meredith Vieira! You got your namesake.”
Josh announced the birth of little Meredith, their fourth child, on social media Sunday. Vieira has not publicly congratulated the couple.
